There is a very famous saying in Malaysia that goes like this:
if your not lazy your not a Malay,
if your not a cheat your not a Chinese,
if your not a drunkard your not an Indian.
Malaysia as all of you should know is a very diverse country with many races and cultural beliefs mainly three races dominates which are the Malays, then the Chinese and lastly the Indians . other then these three races there are also others such as the Sinkhs,Ibans, Bengalis,Portugues, and many more. The latest news on racial problems in malaysia is HINDRAF where thousands of Indians went on strike to claim compensation from the British for the suffering and marginalisation of their race, but i would say that the Indians are having problems but they are not which i would like to call the 'forgotten' race on the other hand the real forgotten race is the 'ORANG ASLI' which means original people they have been totally left aside by the goverment, where there are also atrocities of orang asli being forced to convert to islam if they want to keep their land there is also the burning down of local orang asli churches.not to say anything bad about islam, but in islam aren't you taught to respect other peoples belive and religion this is rather sad i should say.
last month me and few of my college buddies went to a holiday trip to redang island on the way back we are forced to wait 5 hours where we took a chance to go around Kuala Terengganu where i saw something which is truly amazing.what i saw is this 2 Malay men are reading and chating in a' chinese temple' and a chinese man is seen playing chess in a mosque.these two incidents truly touch my heart.this proves that when you forget about some ones skin colour you are able to be best of yourself.
Malaysia has truly change over the years it is now not rare to find names such as Jamaludin wong, subramaniam lee or even mohamad subra which proves that the people of malaysia are slowly understanding that peace among other races is very important and that it could bring out best of others.
